چکیده

Abstract We consider the implications of adding a cap to yield surface for elastic–plastic and elastic–visco-plastic solids with coupling between deformation, fluid flow mineral reactions. For suitable combination (low) permeability strain rate, opening-mode veins can form in compression. Such behaviour is enhanced by dissolution simultaneous reactions negative ΔV. These are equivalents compaction bands rocks high permeability. Stylolite parallel considered as forming this way; such commonly laminated or ribbon-quartz associated intense gold mineralization. Axial plane melt segregations class also. The addition limits permissible stress states portrayed failure-mode diagram has breccia formation. Failure discontinuities that at require decrease pressure opposed extension joints an increase pressure; orientations interpreted reactivated early discontinuities. switching low pressure, which we call mode - , arises from competition deposition. This alternative fault-valve mechanism does not fault reactivation failure ‘seal’ linked seismicity reactivation. capped concept provides unifying self-consistent approach vein/breccia formation kinematics brittle visco-plastic rocks.

Electrical conductivity evolution of non-saturated carbonate rocks during deformation up to failure

We present electrical conductivity measurements (at a fixed frequency of 1kHz) performed on three directions on limestone samples from the quarry of Meriel, during uniaxial tests of deformation up to failure. Samples were saturated from 100% to 80% by drainage. The samples showed brittle fracture with Young’s modulus in the range 10-13 MPa. Formation factor (sample resistivity divided by water ...

Axi-Symmetric Deformation Due to Various Sources in Saturated Porous Media with Incompressible Fluid

The general solution of equations of saturated porous media with incompressible fluid for two dimensional axi-symmetric problem is obtained in the transformed domain. The Laplace and Hankel transforms have been used to investigate the problem. As an application of the approach concentrated source and source over circular region have been taken to show the utility of the approach. The transforme...

MOSFET Failure Modes in the Zero-Voltage-Switched Full-Bridge Switching Mode Power Supply Applications

As the demand for the telecom/server power is growing exponentially, the need for higher power density increases each year. Increasing power density relies on less component counts, smaller reactive component size, and/or better system efficiency. Higher switching frequency leads to the smaller reactive and filter component size. Better efficiency, which reduces the heat sink or paralleled devi...

Stability of Undrained Deformation of Fluid-saturated Geo-materials

The presence of pore fluids in geomaterials can alter deformation processes and facilitate or delay material failure. Dilation/contraction of geomaterials in the course of inelastic undrained deformation causes a reduction/increase in pore pressure altering the effective compressive stress. This results in an increase/decrease in shear stress that can be sustained by the material over the corre...

Quasistatic Deformation and Failure Modes of Composite Square Honeycombs

Carbon fibre epoxy matrix composite honeycombs have been fabricated by slotting, assembling and adhesively bonding composite laminate sheets with various fibre architectures. Their out-of-plane compressive and in-plane shear responses were measured as a function of relative density, ratio of the cell height to width and the number of cells in the specimen. The measurements indicate that the res...
